ESG
ESG AT LITHIUM SPRINGS
Critical minerals are vital for the global transition towards a low carbon economy, as they are crucial in the production of lower emissions technologies such as solar panels, wind turbines, batteries for energy storage, and electric vehicles.
As a business, we recognise the significance in enabling a low carbon economy, and consider ESG as a fundamental aspect of our operations. Currently, we are evaluating proposals from ESG consultants who can support us in embedding ESG considerations as we continue to scale our business.
ENVIRONMENTAL
- We plan on placing high environmental standards to our operations and processes, complying with local and international laws.
- In the vicinity of our exploration sites, we will monitor any impact on local biodiversity.
SOCIAL
- The robust management of occupational health and safety is paramount to our business.
- We understand our onshore and offshore stakeholders and see the importance of procuring and maintaining a social license to operate. In preparation we have attended community events in Yarmouth.
GOVERNANCE
- We have positioned ESG on our Board with the appointment of Fiona Paterson who is an experienced risk and ESG professional.
- Our goals for corporate transparency and disclosures will enable our stakeholders to hold a better understanding of our business.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Community Engagement forms the cornerstone of the Lithium Springs ESG strategy in our key jurisdictions of Australia and Canada.
The Brazil Lake Project is perfectly positioned in terms of its geographical location and its development timing to embrace the opportunity of integrating into the lithium-ion battery supply chain, undergoing a one-in-a-generation transformation for the greening of the global economy. The Project has the potential to bring significant benefits to Nova Scotia and the immediate Yarmouth community both economically and the upskilling of Nova Scotian locals seeking to participate in a truly global business.
In the future devices ranging from mobile phones, laptops, stationary power storage and electric vehicles will most certainly contain lithium derived from the Brazil Lake Project, establishing Nova Scotia as the premier lithium supply base in Canada, attracting investment and establishing Nova Scotia’s reputation in lithium-ion battery supply chain.
The spectrum of global downstream lithium processors engaged by Lithium Springs include household names in vehicle manufacturing, electronics production and global trading companies with decades of operations success. Going forward the companies engaged by Lithium Springs will not risk their respective reputations and for this require highest standards from their suppliers and partners in terms of environmental accountability and social licence to operate established through authentic and productive engagement with the communities in which it operates.
The successful development of the Brazil Lake Project is dependent on the support and contributions made by the local Nova Scotians.
Lithium Springs welcomes ongoing engagement with community and interest groups maintaining the highest level of transparency and accountability.
